At Waverley Community Church, we believe the Church should be a safe, welcoming place for every child, young person, and adult — a place where everyone can feel secure and cared for. Creating that environment doesn’t happen by accident; it takes intentional care, clear policies, and a community-wide commitment to safeguarding.

This is why we have designated safeguarding leads in place across our ministries who ensure that robust safeguarding measures are actively followed. These include:

• Carrying out DBS checks for all volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults

• Providing safeguarding training to equip our teams with the knowledge and confidence to respond well

• Establishing and maintaining clear safeguarding policies and procedures, reviewed regularly

Our leadership team holds overall responsibility for safeguarding within the church, but protecting our community is something we all share.
